The event was held on 29th February at Chelmsford Hotel “the Chelly” in Kurri Kurri, about 45 minutes west of Newcastle, raising money for the Mark Hughes foundation. The main street of Kurri Kurri was filled with some questionable characters coming together from all over Australia and the world.
Laura Johnson, founder of Mullet Fest said a whopping 242 people had signed up to compete in the event. The titles were Juniors aged from 0-17 with 4 age group divisions, the Adult categories were Ranga, International, Extreme, Vintage, People’s Choice, Grubby and the Everyday Mullet. The judging came down to the cut, the condition of the mullet and the overall stage presence.
Mulletfest is such a great event filled with larrikins, families and bogans just having some good clean fun. This is certainly not an event to be missed in 2021.
