“Hair is my form of art and barbering is my creative outlet”. – Mikail Dasko

Having recently closed the chapter of my award winning Barbershop in Canberra, I moved to Melbourne to pursue my career in Barbering as a Teacher at Victoria University Polytechnic where I am fortunate enough to teach the craft and share my passion with my students and clients.

In addition to teaching, I am grateful to be a part of the team at Area Studio in Melbourne where I can maintain my currency as a Barber. One of the most important traits of being a Barbering Teacher is to be current – within skills, techniques and tools. I am able to express what I create in the studio, into the classroom

Medium to long men’s hair styles are an upcoming trend that we haven’t seen since the 70’s. These haircuts require precise scissor techniques which lead me to my tool of choice – the impressive ‘Osaka TAN 6.5.’ This black, sleek, lightweight, versatile and affordable scissor is the perfect choice for scissor over-comb, precision cutting, slicing and notching. Suitable for all levels to help tackle these new trends. The size is all about preference and 6.5 is a great medium if you want to do a little bit of everything without constantly changing your tools. That’s why Osaka is my personal choice.
