TAFE NSW Faculty Director, Tourism, Hospitality & Service Industries Jane Trewin was recognised for more than three decades of outstanding contribution to the Hairdressing industry at the Hair Expo Awards Gala at the International Convention Centre.
Jane’s senior leadership in implementing Australia’s first course in Barbering Apprenticeship was just one innovation that brought about her selection as the newest member of the Hair Expo Hall of Fame.
“Being inducted into the Hair Expo Hall of Fame is an honour and wonderful recognition from an industry that has given me great opportunities since I was 14,” Jane said. “I thank all who have helped my along the way and aim to keep on improving and growing hairdressing and barbering education for years to come.”
This Hall of Fame accolade comes on the heels of her being presented with the International Professional Standards Network’s Award of Honour in Seoul in April.
A stream of awards for TAFE NSW (Ultimo and Gymea) campuses started last year when the Head Teacher of Hairdressing and Barbering, Donna Colombini won the national VET Teacher of the Year Award (out of all trades) in the 2016 Australian Training Awards in September.
