Round 1 has seen the Barbers take some heavy hits and they are up on the ropes; they are down but most certainly not out.
Whilst I realise we need to isolate from each other to stop the spread of Covid 19, I also know that such isolation will cause a lot of pain and heartbreak because some Barbershops may close their doors never to reopen.
I work as the National Training Manager for Jax Wax Australia, I am a Beauty Therapist who trains Barbers how to wax, and I get to see firsthand just how essential they are.
The Barbering culture is one of the best things that has returned to society, men don’t just go to the Barbershop to have a shave and a haircut, they sit in a chair and the world becomes a better place.
I have had the incredible opportunity to work with some amazing Barbers such as Bruce Hathcock from Legends Sydney, Brian Dowd (Walkabout Barber) and Danny Banford from Hearts & Minds.
These guys are so passionate about their Barbershops and more importantly to the safe place they provide for men of any age , the listening ear, the jokes, the sport and often beer , a ritual , a culture that bonds men together to lighten the load.
To all of my friends and colleagues in the Hair and Beauty Industry don’t give up , let’s support each other as much as we can, to all of the clients out there stay safe , see you after we win the fight .
